Trees, creek and canopy.
Parked under a canopy, a car is shaded but never clean for long. Sticky honeydew from maples, pine and linden sap, seed pods and bird droppings all land on the roof and hood. Droppings are acidic, and left on a hot panel they can etch the clear coat. Our sap and bird dropping guide covers how to react quickly.
Damp air near the creek also leaves film on glass and mineral spots when water dries on the paint; see our note on hard-water spots.
Ravine edges also bring wildlife. Birds roost in trees overhead, squirrels drop seeds and shells, and the odd leaf mould stains the paint if it stays wet. Park away from the heaviest branches when you can, and rinse the roof when you notice a mark.
Coatings that help.
For a car parked outside under trees, the most useful upgrade is a protective layer that makes all that debris release easily. Ceramic / Protection starts from $399 $499, takes a full day and includes full paint decontamination, machine paint enhancement, the ceramic coating and coated wheel faces. A coated car still needs washing, but sap rinses off far more easily.

Premium interiors have soft leather, gloss black trim and touchscreens that scratch easily. We use gentle methods and clean microfibre on those surfaces, and we avoid anything harsh on screens and piano black.
