Paint polishing in Hamilton.

Paint in a working city picks up more than swirls. We decontaminate, then run a one-step machine polish to bring the gloss back, quoted with your vehicle.

Fallout first, polish second

Cars that spend time near industrial areas, rail corridors or busy truck routes collect tiny metal particles that bond to the paint. Run your hand across a clean car inside a plastic bag. If it feels like sandpaper, that is bonded contamination, and polishing over it drags it across the finish.

That is why the first stage of our paint enhancement is wash, iron decontamination and clay. See clay bar explained for what it does. Only once the surface is smooth does the machine come out.

What one-step does

One-step enhancement uses one polish and pad chosen for your paint to level light swirls and remove haze. The result is stronger gloss and a cleaner reflection. On a lighter colour, the change is a deeper shine. On black or dark blue, the swirls disappear.

It is not multi-stage correction. Deep scratches, rock chips and etched marks can remain. Our paint enhancement and swirl reduction page lists the limits so you know what to expect, and the swirl marks guide explains why they appear.

Colour matters to how the result looks. Black, charcoal and deep blue show every swirl, so they gain the most from a polish. White and silver hide marks, so the change is more about clarity and depth than dramatic before and after.

Older paint, honest results

Many Hamilton cars are not new. Paint that is ten or twelve years old can be thin, faded or oxidised, and the clear coat has less to give. A gentle one-step approach suits it: we do not push for a perfect finish on paint that cannot take it. If the clear coat is peeling or failing, polishing will not help, and we say so before starting.

On healthy older paint, the improvement can be surprising. Oxidation gives a chalky, flat look that a polish clears quickly, particularly on roofs, hoods and trunk lids, which take the most sun.

Protection afterwards keeps the work from being wasted. A sealant or ceramic coating gives the polished surface a slick layer that sheds the grit and fallout. If a coating is on your list, our ceramic coating in Hamilton page covers how the enhancement is built into that process.

Street parking, trees and sap

In older neighbourhoods with mature trees, such as the streets around Westdale and Kirkendall, cars on the street collect sap, bird droppings and pollen. Left on, they etch the paint. Polishing can remove light etching, but deep marks stay. The guide to protecting paint from sap and bird droppings has tips to keep new marks off a polished finish.

Pricing and booking

Paint polishing is quoted with your vehicle. Tell us about the colour, size and condition on the quote form, and add photos if you can. If you are preparing a car to sell, our pre-sale detailing page explains how a polish fits in. We bring our own water, power and lighting. See the Hamilton car detailing page for coverage.

The job finishes with a walk-around under bright light so you can judge each panel yourself. Payment is by card, e-transfer or cash, and rain means a free reschedule or a move into a garage.
