What a coating does for a Burlington car
Ceramic coating is a liquid that bonds to the paint and cures into a hard, glass-like layer. It is not a force field. It will not stop stone chips or a key, but it does make the surface slick, so salt film, road grime and bird droppings stick less and rinse off faster.
For daily drivers on the QEW and 403 that matters most in winter. Cars here are covered in salt from December to March, and a coated car washes clean in a fraction of the effort. The road salt removal guide explains why prompt washing matters either way.
Salt also attacks the small things. It collects around badges, door handles and wheel wells, and it leaves a dull film on glass and trim. Coating is mostly for the paint and wheel faces, but a slicker car means less scrubbing everywhere when you wash it.
The full-day process
Ceramic and protection starts from $399 $499, and the work takes a full day.
- Full paint decontamination: wash, iron and tar removal, clay.
- Machine paint enhancement, a one-step polish that reduces light swirls and gives the coating a clean base.
- Panel wipe to remove polishing oils so the coating bonds.
- Ceramic coating applied panel by panel.
- Coated wheel faces.
- Cure check and a walk-around with you.
The polishing step is the part owners underestimate: coating locks in whatever is underneath, so the paint must be as clean and smooth as possible first. Note that it is a one-step enhancement, not multi-stage correction.
Is it worth it?
That depends on how you use the car. If it is garaged and rarely driven, perhaps not. If it sits outside, sees salt and you wash it yourself, it can make care easier. Our honest take is in is ceramic coating worth it?, and the difference between coatings, wax and sealants is covered in the wax vs sealant vs ceramic comparison.
After coating, wash by hand with a pH-neutral shampoo, and read how to wash a ceramic coated car for the routine.
One practical point: the coating needs a day or two to cure fully, so we advise keeping the car dry and unwashed for a short period afterward. We explain the details at the walk-around.
Booking in Burlington
Because this is a full-day job, we need a spot where the car can stay put, ideally a garage or a covered area, with space on all sides. We bring water, power and lighting. Aldershot and Shoreacres driveways have worked well. See the ceramic coating service or the Burlington car detailing overview and ask for a quote.
SUVs add $30, trucks $40, vans $50 and exotics $60.
