Aldershot has a mix of older detached bungalows and two-storeys, townhouse complexes and mid-rise apartments. That means parking varies street by street: a driveway with room to work, a shared visitor lot, or an underground level in an apartment building.

Aldershot is next to the QEW and 403 interchange, which is one of the busiest in Halton. Traffic here is heavy and winter salt use is high, so lower doors, wheel arches and rear bumpers pick up salt and road film quickly. Brake dust builds up on the wheels from stop-and-go driving on Plains Rd and Waterdown Rd.

Parts of Aldershot sit near the lake and the bay, and others back toward the rail corridor and the Aldershot GO station area. Cars parked near the tracks collect fine rail dust and brake particles, which show up as tiny rust-coloured specks on paint, especially on lighter colours.
