Hair plus mud is the real problem
Plain pet hair is one thing. Hair mixed with dried mud from a conservation trail is another. When a wet dog jumps into the cargo area after a walk near the escarpment, the mud dries into the carpet with the hair stuck inside it, and a household vacuum just skates over the top.
That is why the order of work matters. We take the dry soil out first, then deal with the hair, and only then bring in steam and extraction. Wet the carpet too early and you turn dust into paste.
Cat households have a different version of the same problem. Fine hair clings to fabric seats and the headliner edge through static, and it comes back within days if the carpet underneath is still loaded with dander. We treat both, because one without the other does not last.
How the visit runs
Pet hair removal is a +$40 add-on to the interior package, and interior details start from $119 $149. A typical Milton visit goes like this:
- Remove mats, cargo liners and any dog bed or seat cover, and shake out what we can.
- Dry-vacuum loose dirt and grit before anything gets wet.
- Work rubber brushes and stone tools across carpet and fabric to bring woven hair to the surface.
- Blow hair out of seat rails, seams and trim gaps with compressed air.
- Steam and shampoo extraction to lift mud, dander and oils.
- Final vacuum and a check under bright light.
Allow 2 to 4 hours. Our pet hair removal service page covers the method in more detail.
Where hair hides in a family vehicle
Milton runs on SUVs and minivans, and they have more places for fur than a sedan does. We check the spots people forget:
- Under and behind booster seats and car seats.
- Third-row footwells and the folds of a removable cargo liner.
- Door pockets and the gap between the seat and the centre console.
- Seat tracks, where hair wraps around the rails.
If your dog rides behind a barrier or in a crate, leave it in place and tell us. We will lift it and clean what is under it. Larger vehicles carry the usual size add-on, so an SUV is +$30 and a minivan is +$50. Every additional vehicle in the same booking is 20% off, which helps if the household has two dog-friendly cars.
Keeping it under control afterwards
One visit resets the car. Staying ahead is easier with a cargo liner you can pull out and shake, a rubber squeegee for the carpet, and a quick weekly vacuum. If allergies are part of the reason you are calling, the guide on dust, pollen and pet dander explains what to focus on, and the dog hair guide lists what actually works between visits.
Timing helps too. Dogs shed hardest in spring and autumn, so booking after the heavy shed gives the longest-lasting result.
Booking in Milton
We bring our own water, power and lighting, so a driveway in Willmott or any other newer subdivision is fine. We only need room beside the car to open the doors. See the Milton car detailing page for coverage, or send the 60-second quote form with a photo of the worst area. Quotes usually come back the same day.
