No vacuum, no driveway, no problem

Plenty of Hamilton drivers live in older houses with a shared lane or a narrow drive, or in apartments and condos with a single parking spot. Cleaning a car in those conditions is hard, and a coin vacuum at the gas station rarely gets hair out of the carpet.

We arrive with our own water, power and lighting. That means a parking spot beside the car is the only thing you need to provide, and a condo garage can work too. If you park on the street, tell us where, and we will confirm whether it is workable when we quote. Check the condo and underground parking guide if yours is below ground.

What we do, in order

Pet hair removal is a +$40 add-on to an interior detail, and interior details start from $119 $149. The sequence matters, because wet work too early locks hair in:

  1. Strip the car of mats, liners, seat covers and anything else removable.
  2. Dry vacuum from the roof line down.
  3. Pull woven hair up with rubber brushes and stone tools, including along the seat edges.
  4. Compressed air in seams and under the seats.
  5. Steam and shampoo extraction to lift the oils and dander in the fabric.
  6. Conditioned leather and a last check in bright light.

The pet hair removal service page covers the details, and the whole thing takes roughly 2 to 4 hours.

The cargo area gets the most attention in a hatchback or SUV, since that is where dogs ride. We lift the liner, clean the sill and check the fold lines of the rear seats, where fur packs down into a felt-like layer that only a stiff tool will lift.

Trail dogs and car interiors

Hamilton has trailheads, waterfalls and conservation land within a short drive of almost any neighbourhood, and dogs go along. Wet fur from a creek and a quick drive home leaves hair, burrs and fine grit pressed into the cargo area. Grit matters because it grinds into carpet fibres and makes hair harder to release. Burrs and seed heads from late-summer walks catch in fabric too, and we pick them out by hand rather than risk them tearing at the weave.

We vacuum grit before we start the hair work, which is why a second pass with a regular vacuum afterwards is much more effective than the first one was.

Allergies and shared vehicles

Hair is only half of it. Dander, the invisible part, sits in fabric and settles in the vents. If someone in the household reacts to the dog, the extraction step does more for them than any amount of surface vacuuming. Our guide on detailing for allergies goes further on what to expect.

If the car is shared, say with a roommate or a family member who does not want fur on the seats, a clean interior and a seat cover or cargo liner afterwards keeps the peace. A washable cover costs little and saves you the next bill.

Questions people ask

  • It is a +$40 add-on to an interior detail. Vehicle size adds apply, for example SUV +$30.
  • Usually yes. We bring our own water, power and lighting. We need a spot with room beside the car, and a garage or covered stall works well.
  • It is finer and clings to fabric, but the same tools and extraction handle it.
  • Most, and often nearly all. Hair embedded for years in worn carpet may not come out completely, and we will say so.
