Does a new car need protecting?

Yes, and the sooner the better. New cars are not delivered perfect. They travel by rail and truck, sit on lots, get washed by dealers with brushes and carry iron fallout that you cannot see. Dealer-applied paint sealant is often thin, and the paint underneath is a clear coat measured in microns.

Protecting the paint early means the first winter, the first bird dropping and the first tree sap hits a coating rather than the clear coat. It also means you start from a clean baseline, and you avoid locking in marks that came from the lot.

This page is for buyers of new or nearly new vehicles in Burlington and Oakville. Our new car paint protection guide explains the options in more detail.

Many buyers assume the dealer's protection package covers this. Those packages vary widely, and some are a thin spray sealant and a fabric treatment. We do not judge what you bought, but we recommend checking what is actually on the car before you decide.

What we do on a new car

New car protection is our ceramic coating package, with the prep adjusted to what a new car needs. Paint on new vehicles is usually in good shape, so enhancement is often lighter.

  1. Wash the car and clean wheels, arches and door jambs.
  2. Remove iron, tar and transport fallout and clay the paint.
  3. Inspect the paint under light and note any dealer-added marks or swirls.
  4. Machine polish with a one-step enhancement to clear light defects and prep the surface.
  5. Wipe panels with a prep solution so the coating bonds directly.
  6. Apply the ceramic coating panel by panel, then coat the wheel faces.
  7. Walk around the car with you and review aftercare.

We do not remove factory film or apply paint protection film, and we do not offer tint or dent repair.

A new car's biggest paint risks are the first few months of use. Bird droppings, tree sap in spring, road salt in winter and brush washes at drive-throughs cause most of the early damage. A coating does not make the car immune, but it gives you time to clean things off before they etch.

Timing it after delivery

Book it within the first few weeks if possible. Most of the benefit comes from getting the coating on before winter or heavy use. A dry, covered spot is best on the day, and the car should stay dry for a day after.

It is a full-day service, so plan for the car to be at home with us for the day. Our guide on how long detailing takes covers durations for each package.

If your new car is arriving in late fall, booking the coating before the first snowfall is the best plan. Paint prepared and coated in October meets winter protected. One prepared in April has already been through it. See also our winter protection package.

How it is priced

New car protection starts from $399 $499 for a sedan or coupe. That covers decon, paint enhancement, the coating and coated wheel faces.

  • SUV +$30, truck +$40, van or minivan +$50, exotic +$60.
  • If you also want the interior cleaned and protected, add interior detailing or book in tandem.
  • Each additional vehicle in the same booking is 20% off.

Tell us on the quote form that it is a new car, and include the model and colour. A tailored quote usually comes back the same day.

As an example, a new sedan is the base ceramic price. A new SUV adds +$30. A new truck adds +$40. A new exotic adds +$60. If you also want the interior detailed on the same booking, tell us when you request the quote.

Caring for a coated new car

Treat it well and it stays easy.

  • Wash by hand every couple of weeks with a pH-neutral shampoo. See how to wash a ceramic-coated car.
  • Avoid brush-style washes, even though the coating helps.
  • Rinse salt off promptly in winter.
  • Remove bird droppings and sap quickly.

Compare options in our is ceramic coating worth it article if you are still deciding.

In the first weeks after coating, avoid automatic washes, hold off on waxes and keep the car out of heavy rain where you can. Follow the cure instructions we give you. After that, normal careful washing is enough.

Why mobile suits new car owners

You just spent a lot of money, and the last thing you want is a stranger driving your new car away. We come to your driveway or garage in Burlington or Oakville, so it stays at your place. We bring our own water, power and lighting, and are fully insured.

You approve the result at the walk-around before we leave.

It is also useful to know what you are not getting. A coating is not a film, so stone chips remain a risk, and it is not a repair for scratches. It is a layer that makes the paint easier to keep clean and helps it hold its gloss.

Questions people ask

  • It is the best time. The paint is in its best condition and a coating keeps it that way with little prep.
  • Usually a light one-step enhancement. New paint often carries dealer wash marks and light swirls, and we clear those before coating.
  • Yes. We prefer to inspect the paint first, and we will tell you if anything needs a different approach.
  • No. PPF is a physical film that resists stone chips. We do not offer it. A ceramic coating is a chemical layer for gloss, wash ease and resistance to contamination.
  • We clean and condition the interior with Interior Restoration or The Full Detail, which you can add alongside the coating.
