Guide · Pricing explained

Car detailing cost in Burlington and Oakville.

A detailing quote is built from four things: the package, your vehicle size, its condition and any add-ons. Here is how each piece works, with the real add-on and size prices.

Luxury car parked in a modern garage

Short answer

At Jay's Auto Detail a quote is the package price plus a vehicle size adjustment (SUV +$30, truck +$40, van or minivan +$50, exotic +$60), plus condition add-ons such as pet hair +$40 or heavy stains +$50. Every additional vehicle in the same booking is 20% off.

How a detailing quote is built

There is no mystery formula. Every quote from Jay's Auto Detail is made of the same four pieces, so you can predict most of it before you ask.

  1. The package. Interior, exterior, full detail or ceramic. This sets the base work and the base price.
  2. Vehicle size. A sedan or coupe is the base price. Larger vehicles have more surface and trim, so they add a fixed amount.
  3. Condition. A tidy daily driver and a car that has carried dogs, kids and a winter of salt are not the same job.
  4. Add-ons. Specific problems get their own line, so you only pay for what the car actually needs.

Our four packages show their current price on the site as "from" amounts, and those are the numbers to anchor on. Interior details start from $119 $149, exterior details start from $103 $129, The Full Detail starts from $176 $220 and Ceramic / Protection starts from $399 $499. The regular price shows struck through next to each one.

What each package includes

Knowing what is inside the price is the fastest way to tell whether a quote is fair.

  • Interior Restoration: deep vacuum and steam, carpet and seat shampoo extraction, leather clean and condition, glass, trim and console. About 2 to 4 hours. See interior detailing.
  • Exterior Revival: hand wash and dry, iron and tar decontamination, clay bar treatment, wheels, tires and trim dressing. About 1.5 to 3 hours. See exterior detailing.
  • The Full Detail: the complete interior and exterior, plus sealant protection and a final walk-around. About 3 to 5 hours. See the full detail.
  • Ceramic / Protection: full paint decontamination, machine paint enhancement, ceramic coating and coated wheel faces. A full-day service. See ceramic coating.

The full detail is usually better value than buying interior and exterior separately, because the protection step and walk-around are included.

Size adds and add-ons, with real numbers

Vehicle size

Sedans and coupes are the base price. On top of that:

  • SUV: +$30
  • Truck: +$40
  • Van or minivan: +$50
  • Exotic: +$60

Condition add-ons

  • Pet hair: +$40
  • Smoke or odour: +$50
  • Heavy stains: +$50
  • Winter salt mess: +$40

Headlight restoration and engine bay detailing are offered too. They are quoted with your vehicle, since the work depends on the car.

A worked example, without package prices

Suppose you book an interior detail on a family SUV with a dog and a salt-stained driver footwell. You would have the interior package price, plus $30 for the SUV, plus $40 for pet hair, plus $40 for winter salt. Those three adjustments total $110 on top of the package. The package price itself is whatever the current "from" figure is on the day you book.

If the SUV were a clean, one-owner vehicle with no pets, only the $30 would apply. That is the logic: the quote follows the car.

Two vehicles, one booking

Every additional vehicle in the same booking is 20% off. If you and a partner both want your cars done on the same visit, or a household with two driveways wants one appointment, the second car costs less than the first.

It works best when both cars are at the same address on the same day. We are fully mobile, so we set up once, and the second vehicle benefits from that. For a two-car household in Oakville or Burlington, it is often the cheapest way to get both cars reset together.

Payment is by card, e-transfer or cash.

When paying more is worth it, and when it is not

Not every car needs the biggest package. A few honest rules of thumb:

  • Lease return or sale coming up: detailing is one of the cheapest ways to protect resale value or avoid wear charges. See pre-sale detailing and lease return detailing.
  • Car under a year old with clean paint: the exterior package or a protection service is usually enough. The interior can wait.
  • Winter just ended: an interior with the salt add-on tends to deliver the most visible change per dollar, since salt does lasting damage to carpet and trim.
  • Cars with minor swirls: do not buy ceramic first. Coating locks in whatever is on the paint, which is why ceramic here includes machine paint enhancement before the coating.

Where you can save without shortchanging the car: skip add-ons you do not need, book two vehicles together for the 20% off, and keep the car in decent shape between visits so the condition adds stay small. The worst value is buying a cheap quick job twice a year in place of one proper detail.

Why detailing prices vary across the market

If you collect a few quotes around the Halton area, you will see wide spreads. We will not name or compare anyone, but the reasons are consistent across the industry.

  • Scope. "Full detail" has no standard definition. One business means a wash and vacuum, another means steam, extraction and decontamination.
  • Time. Labour is the main cost. A low price usually means fewer hours on your car.
  • Products and tools. Pro-grade chemicals, extractors, steam equipment and machine polishers cost more than consumer products.
  • Insurance. A business that is fully insured carries a real overhead, and it protects your vehicle.
  • Mobile overhead. Bringing water, power and lighting to you costs more than running a fixed bay, and saves you the trip and the wait.
  • Condition. Some quotes are flat regardless of the car, and then a heavily soiled one gets surprise charges. Ours are itemised in advance.

Ask every provider what exact steps are included and how long they will spend. That comparison is more useful than the number alone.

Getting your exact number

The quickest route is the 60-second form on our quote page. Tell us the vehicle, the package you have in mind and anything unusual about its condition. Photos are optional but speed things up. A tailored quote usually arrives the same day.

If you are still deciding, our pricing page shows the current package figures, and the guide on how long detailing takes helps you judge whether a quote reflects real time on the car. We service Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Hamilton, Waterdown and Halton Hills, with travel to Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek, Grimsby and Carlisle for full details and ceramic work.
